The New York Rangers is one of the teams that is idolized and followed by many ice hockey fans and enthusiasts. They hail from New York, New York in the United States. The first Stanley Cup of the team was won in 1926, their second season playing in the league. The second Cup was received by the team as they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1932-33 season. Another win was achieved by the Rangers in the 1939-40 season when they bested the Toronto maple Leafs again. It was a while before the team won another championship. It was in 1994 when the New York Rangers won their latest Championship. The lucky people who were holding Rangers tickets that day witnessed as Keenan led the team to victory in the finals. That season was the best for the team since they also snagged the President’s trophy after they have received the best record in the whole league. It was an event worthy of breaking the curse.
The hiatus that the team was under between their third and fourth Stanley Cup was known to many as the curse of 1940. The curse was started because the team started to lose in games after the third Cup that they got. With the apparent losing streak, people begun to postulate that the reason why the team was not winning might have been caused by a curse. The curse was believed to have originated when the management of the team burned the lease on the Madison Square Garden on the Stanley Cup itself. The fourth Cup and clinching the President’s Trophy assured all that the curse has been ended.
The team is making every attempt to win another Cup. The fans and supporters rally together for their team for they know that a championship win is something that their team can give them.
